The Italian Job 6-7-8 Sept 2019

Our most popular event and a sell-out each of the 7 times we have run it between 2007 – 2017.  Loosely themed on the ever popular original film, it will certainly give you a long weekend to remember and an opportunity to visit some fabulous film set locations.

There are two classes of eligible vehicle: “Bangers”, which are any types of car worth no more than £200, or “Ragtops”, which we define as 2 seater convertibles of any age, with an engine capacity limit of 2500cc.

The Italian Job Route

This route truly has contrasts, such as the open French countryside, the superb Lake Geneva, Swiss mountains and hairpin roads such as the St. Bernards Pass, where Charlie Croker and his gang are relieved of their cars by the Mafia. Add in other unforgettable film locations and the exciting traffic chaos of Turin, with a spectacular scenic third driving day to Monaco and onto Nice for the finish, there really is something for everyone.

The rally itself will last 3 days, although you will need to allow time to get to the start, which for this event is in Reims (which is approximately 2.5 hours drive from Calais). The registration will take place in a local bar in Reims on the Thursday evening, prior to the 9:00 am start on Friday.

How much does it cost to take part, and what's included?

The base entry fee inclusive of 2 people in a car, including a set of stickers and rally plaque, has been held at our 2016 prices and is £295 for a car with 2 passengers. Additional passengers are £65 each.

Spaces are limited to 80 cars, so please sign up as soon as possible. For payment details please click onto and complete the Sign Up page, which will automatically direct you to PayPal, where you can pay by debit or credit card. If you have any questions please contact us at  (Please note that the entry fee does not include any accommodation or ferries).

Support en route

Crumball Rally does not offer any support (aside from a sympathetic ear if you break down). So if you’re concerned about conking out miles from anywhere on a mountain pass, we strongly recommend you organise European breakdown cover for yourself.

What do you do each day besides driving?

To keep you and your passengers amused, we set daily tasks to perform en route. However, there is no compulsion to take part, so if you just want to cruise through the countryside enjoying the views, stopping for long lunches, that’s just as cool with us too. Remember rule number 1… this is categorically not a race across Europe, but a leisurely drive by likeminded people, and there will be no advantage in arriving first.

For those who wish to take part in the daily tasks, there are cash prizes on offer for the cumulative first, second and third placings at the presentation ceremony on the last evening. An additional prize and a trophy will also be awarded for the best car in the banger category and maybe anything else the organisers think worthy.  Of course, everyone will be treated like a winner having made it to the end, and each participant will be provided with a quality medal memento at the finish.

Details of the general route can be seen on the route page and stop over points will be advised via Facebook and sent to you when you register so that you can book your accommodation in advance. Approximately a month before the start of the rally we will send you your rally guide which will contain final route details etc. and any advance task requirements (!).
